About me

I am a master's (MA) student in the Department of Political Science at McGill University. My research, under the supervision of Professor Khalid Mustafa Medani, focuses on political struggles and regional geopolitical dynamics in the Red Sea basin. I am attempting to understand the current transformations in this strategic waterway through the lens of regional conflict dynamics and comparative politics.

I completed my undergraduate education at Istanbul University in the Department of Political Science and International Relations. I then began my master's degree at Boğaziçi University's Atatürk Institute in the Department of Modern Turkish History. After successfully completing the coursework phase, I was accepted to McGill University and decided to continue my educational journey there without writing my thesis.

While pursuing my master's degree at McGill, I served as a teaching assistant for numerous courses in the economics and political science departments.

Non-Academic Life

In 2021, I worked as a journalist intern at Medyascope for about six months. Here, I had the opportunity to engage in many activities, such as translating foreign news, working as a reporter, and editing news videos. After being accepted to McGill, it took Canada seven months to approve my visa application, so in the fall of 2023, I served as the launch manager for an event center called Community Hub, a cocktail bar called Lumina, and a bar called Welt Pub, all at the same time.
